13 Songs Every Former Emo in the Middle East Will Never Forget

Whether you want to admit it or not, we’ve all had our emo phase; from telling our parents not to tell us what to do, to bangs covering half of our faces, to sad Myspace statuses, and of course, emo music.

There was nothing really special about emo bands. Their songs were basically pop music that are trying to slide as rock or punk. The only thing that was consistent about them was that they looked extremely lame, but young us obviously thought they were the coolest thing on the motherfreakin’ planet.

We gathered a nifty list of our favorite emo songs that every Arab emo teen has jammed to!

Good Charlotte – The Anthem

This was the song where it all began…

Simple Plan – Perfect

And then we listened to this song and read the lyrics to our parents when they asked us what we wanted for lunch.

Fall Out Boy – Dance, Dance

Who didn’t have a crush on Pete Wentz?

My Chemical Romance – The Black Parade

So much angst. So much darkness.

Panic! At the Disco – I Write Sins Not Tragedies

I mean…Brandon Urie is still hot.

Paramore Misery Business

All girls wanted to be her, and guys wanted to be with her.

30 Seconds to Mars – The Kill

Even Jared Leto had his emo phase.

AFI – Miss Murder

Always and forever!

Green Day – Wake Me Up When September Ends

Fun fact: Some people STILL write this as their Facebook status when September begins.

The All-American Rejects – Swing, Swing

Rumor has it; the band might be making a comeback.

Yellowcard – Ocean Avenue

Emos like romantic songs too!

Blink-182 – I Miss You

And we had our hearts broken.

Sunrise Avenue – Fairytale Gone Bad

For some unknown reason, this song was pretty popular in Egypt. No one knows who sang it or probably heard of them outside of Egyptian high schools.

WE SAID THIS: What was your emo anthem?
