ISIS Has Its Own Messaging App Called ‘Alrawi’

It is no surprise that the Islamic State, most commonly known as ISIS, always goes a step too far and they are now using a new weapon: a secure smartphone app. After being kicked off WhatsApp, Telegram and other similar messengers, ISIS started using a new Android encrypted app named “Alrawi,” which makes it more difficult for governments to monitor them.

This new channel of communication was discovered by a hacking network known as Ghost Security Group. Alrawi’s security is supposedly not as advanced as that of WhatsApp, however it still protects their conversations from being monitored. Because Alrawi is not owned by an established company, ISIS cannot be banned from using it.

The app is not available on Google Play, but it can be accessed through other sites. Governments are still trying to find a way to decrypt those messages without violating the privacy of innocent people.
