When tragedy struck at Mecca, all hell broke loose on Twitter and it was not to express condolences. On September 11th, a huge red construction crane collapsed into part of the Masjid Al-Haram. Officials said strong winds and heavy rains resulted in the accident, which killed at least 107 people. Saudi Arabia’s King Salman says the results of an investigation will be made public.

You would expect that such tragedy would leave your heart aching for the ones who were on a worshipping quest, only to sign in on Twitter, see what the world has to say and realize you couldn’t be more wrong. Apparently, many people considered it karma for what happened in the United States on 9/11/2001 and instead of appreciating how short life can be, the whole incident turned into vicious heartless celebrations of death.

Here are some tweets that simply depict what we have reached as human beings in terms of ignorance and cruelty. One can only pray for haters to find light and wisdom.
