Yalla Wear: The Genesis

A wise man once said that the best type of inspiration comes during moments of intoxication…  and boy were we intoxicated when we came up with Yalla Wear.

It started (as all great things start) with an innocent conversation on a boat in the Mediterranean off the coast of the serene (wild), idyllic (party) island of Mykonos. In an attempt to explain to a friend what “Yalla” meant we meandered through multiple allegories and explanations to finally rest on one, simple, succinct explanation: “Yalla is the original YOLO.”

Needless to say that in our drunken state we found this description hilarious. So hilarious, in fact, that it warranted a trip to the local T-shirt shop to have it custom printed for us. Photos were uploaded and shared and the response was truly overwhelming…

As we woke up the next morning and awaited our hangovers to subside so we could continue drinking, (Hegel was right that history repeats itself) Capitalism kicked in. If people liked the T-shirts why don’t we sell them? After all, nothing in life is free and we were soon going to run out of cash to sustain our hedonistic lifestyle.

A website was set up (distribution), social media pages designed (marketing), caps were printed (product development) and very quickly the structure of a business took form… Yalla Wear was born!

The response has since blown us away! With orders coming in from Los Angles to Sydney and London to Helsinki we are now scrambling to take Yalla Wear to the next level and loving every minute of it!  #Yalla check us out on www.yallawear.com
