#WaraElMazzika: “Remontada”, an Egyptian Rapper’s Journey from Mesho to Ill Magdi
In today’s edition of #WaraElMazzika, we get to unveil for the first time the backstory of one of the leading artists in the Egyptian rap scene. Even though the rap scene in Egypt has been reaching new heights in the past few years, Ill Magdi was on the screen back in 2013, as the co-founder of Young Pharoz.
Alongside Ayman and Shahd, Magdi who was then known as Mesho, presented the Egyptian rap to the entire Arab World by participating in X-Factor. With live performances garnering millions of views on the internet, and even more views on TV. The band crossed international boundaries when Internationally-renowned rapper MGK praised them for their remix of his song “Invincible”.
The band was later signed with Sony Music, and performed in concerts abroad and all over Egypt. In the video below, we talk with Magdi about the ups and downs of his career, and why he thinks that 2020 will hands down be his year!
