Viral Visual: Facebook Love
The data ninjas over at Facebook have released an interesting graph that shows the relationship between two people’s Timeline interactions and exactly when they get together as a couple.
In the 100 days before the couple’s anniversary date, mutual posts between the future couple increase steadily, followed by a marked drop when they become “Facebook official” – presumably because they’re actually spending physical time together and not just online. The posts continue to decline after they change their status from “Single” to “In a Relationship”.
12 days before the relationship, the mutual posts reach a peak of 1.67 per day, while 85 days into the relationship, the daily posts reach a low of 1.53.
Another graph shows a distinct change in a person’s statuses and comments from “negative” (using words like “hate”, “hurt” and “bad”) to “positive” (using words like “love”, “nice” and “happy”) before and after the relationship begins.
All of which is great, we guess. Yet this just proves our point that Facebook is full of creepers – from random people sending friend requests to staffers whose job it is to analyze our every move on the social network.
