The World’s Largest Underwater Theme Park to Open in Bahrain!

Via Arabian Business

The Middle East region, especially the Gulf States, are all about constructing the world’s first and world’s largest everything! The Kingdom of Bahrain just announced that they’re planning to construct the world’s largest underwater theme park, and we’re super excited to witness it as it comes to life!

The underwater theme park will eventually cover a total area of 100,000 square meters, with a submerged Boeing 747 as its centerpiece. The Boeing 747 is the largest aircraft ever to be submerged! The mega-project is the result of the partnership between the Supreme Council for Environment, the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (DTEA), and the private sector.

According to the Official Bahrain News Agency, the site will be launched “in the coming” weeks and will open to divers and visitors before the summer. The site is being designed as a dive experience, and it will feature a submerged replica of a traditional Bahraini pearl merchant’s house, artificial coral reefs and other sculptures that have been placed underwater as a safe haven for coral growth and as a habitat for marine animals.

WE SAID THIS: Can’t be more excited for my next visit home!
