Tensions Rise: Biden Calls on Netanyahu to Act on Gaza Crisis
Reaching a boiling point, US President Joe Biden calls Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In the tense call, the American President gave Netanyahu one of his sternest warnings yet, telling him to “act immediately to protect Palestinian civilians or face changes in our own policy.”
This new approach stems from the recent killing of seven World Central Kitchen workers during an Israeli airstrike in Gaza. The attack sparked a new wave of criticism and anger directed at Washington.
Knowing how there is increased frustration over the tragic and horrific events occurring in Gaza, with the death toll now reaching 33,000, pressure to take action has never been more intense.
With all that being said, Biden took it as the time to spark a more serious conversation with Netanyahu. During the call, Biden demanded that Israel “announce and implement a series of specific, concrete, and measurable steps to address civilian harm, humanitarian suffering, and the safety of aid workers.”
Along with that, he also pushed for Netanyahu to give his negotiators authority to set up a deal to release hostages and prisoners. The question is, with pressure from America coupled with that of the world, what will be Israel’s next move?
