Ramadan Ads That Live Rent-Free in Our Heads—And Our Hearts

By Malak Khaled

Ramadan ads have a way of capturing the essence of the holy month, blending nostalgia, family, and cultural moments into iconic campaigns that stay with us long after they air. Here’s a look at some of the most memorable Ramadan ads that took us on an emotional rollercoaster over the years:

1) El E’ila El Kebeera (2016)

This Vodafone ad was pure nostalgia, bringing back the old aesthetic—from polka-dots to bright colors.

It featured icons like Samir Ghanem, Menna Shalaby, and Sherine and beautifully captured the essence of family gatherings.

From the relative who still remembers you as a baby and loves to tell your most embarrassing stories to the all-too-relatable pre-iftar struggles—someone running late, the food not turning out right—it all hit home because it felt real, a perfect tribute to our Ramadan traditions.

2) Rag’een Aqwa w Tayreen (2021)

This Vodafone ad brought Sherihan back in a dazzling tribute to her legendary Fawazeer days. The extravagant outfits, the energetic dance sequences—all of it screamed nostalgia.

But beyond that, the song’s powerful message of resilience and the cinematic display of Sherihan’s journey from her tragic car accident to her battle with cancer was truly something else. Seeing her back, vibrant and full of life, felt like a bittersweet victory.

3) Yalla Nekamel Lametna (2013)

This Chipsy and Pepsi ad was a nostalgic masterpiece. It took us down memory lane, reviving childhood favorites like Bogy and Tamtam, digitally bringing back Fouad El Mohandes, and featuring Fatoota in his iconic green suit.

And, of course, Nelly—the queen of Fawazeer. The message was simple but heartwarming: being together with family is everything.

4) Qowetak Fe E’iltak (2015)

This ad was a love letter to the family. Featuring iconic duos like Hussein Fahmy and his brother Mostafa Fahmy, Emy Samir Ghanem and Dalal Abdel Aziz, and Ahmed Adaweya with his son, it was a touching tribute to the strength of family bonds. Watching it today hits differently, knowing we’ve lost some of these legends—it’s a bittersweet reminder of their legacy.

5) Sonnet El Hayah (2020)

This was the tearjerker of the year. Released during the COVID-19 pandemic, when social distancing kept families apart, this ad delivered a much-needed message of hope. It reminded us that Ramadan isn’t just about physical gatherings; it’s about connection.

Through video calls and intimacy that runs deep, it showed that our bonds are stronger than just being in the same room. Impossible to watch without tearing up.

6) Kheyoot Men Noor Tegma’na (2015)

Everything about this ad is iconic, even its name! In Ramadan, it’s common for neighbors to pitch in and buy decorations, stringing up lights that physically connect buildings—and symbolically, connect hearts, and this is exactly what this Chipsy and Pepsi ad wanted to remind us of.

It took us through Egypt’s alleys, with traditional fawanees, the tannoura dancer, and even the classic iftar cannon at Maghreb. All of this set to the soothing voice of Hussain Al Jassmi—it was a cultural masterpiece drenched in nostalgia.

7) Vodafone (2018)

2018 was the year football fever took over, with Egypt qualifying for the FIFA World Cup, and Vodafone capitalized on it by bringing our TV icons with our football stars in an epic rivalry.

With Amir Karara, Yasmine Sabry, and Hesham Maged, alongside football legends like Saad Samir, Ahmed Hegazy, and the most famous commentator, Medhat Shalaby—this ad was packed with star power. It set the mood just right for both the football season and the Ramadan series, making it a Ramadan highlight that year.

8) Pepsi Ad (2011)

This Pepsi ad was all about charity, asking the question: which cause deserves your donation? But what truly made it unforgettable was Donia Samir Ghanem carrying the entire ad with her talent.

She transformed into multiple characters—a football player, a teacher, a shopaholic—each representing a sector in need. The song was catchy, the message was strong, and if you watch it today, you’ll still find yourself singing along.

These Ramadan ads aren’t just commercials—they’re snapshots of our collective memories. They bring back the joy, the nostalgia, and the essence of what makes this month so special.
