Pope Tawadros To Meet With Pope Francis in Rome This Month and Here’s Why!

By Yasmeen Badawy

The relationship between the church in Egypt and the church in Italy has always been doing well. In order to strengthen the relationship between the Orthodox Churches, Pope Tawadros will be heading on an official visit to the Vatican. The pope will be heading a church delegation that will accompany him during his anticipated visit.

The delegation will expectedly meet with the Egyptian Coptic community. On his previous visit to the Vatican in 2013, Pope Tawadros received a Virgin Mary pendant from Pope Francis and toured the archeological site of St. Peter’s tomb and the Church of the Apostolic Palace. In his first papal visit to Egypt in 20 years, the Italian Pope Francis visited Egypt for two days in April 2017 and led a holy mass at Cairo Stadium where more than 25,000 Copts were in attendance.

WE SAID THIS: Egypt and Italy have never been on better terms!
