Oman Announces 14-Day Free Visa Entry Program for Tourists

Aiming to attract tourists Oman has announced visa-free entrance for up to 14 days as reported by The Siasat Daily. Unfortunately, the program is not offered to everyone but for the citizens of 103 countries including; Portugal, Sweden, Russia, China, the United States, Turkey, and many more.

Visitors from these nations can now choose to extend their visa-free stay in Oman for more than 14 days, with an additional cost of 20 Omani Riyals for a month. Afterwards, visitors have to submit an online application for an e-Visa to gain entrance and extend their stay.

As for Indian tourists, they can acquire a visa upon arrival if they possess an entry visa from the US, Canada, the UK, one of the Schengen nations, Japan or a residency permit from one of the GCC nations.

Sultanate Oman has taken attempts to grow its tourism business and decrease its dependency on oil revenues in line with the trend of diversifying economies in the Middle Easte. This can be seen in the rise of festive events that promote travel like the breath-taking Khareef festival of Salalah and the first of its kind mountain festival of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar,
