Living & Dying In Gaza: An Ode To Palestinian Journalist Montaser Sawaf

While the unprecedented genocide in Gaza has taken a severe death toll of more than 20,000 Palestinians in total, it has taken the lives of more than 63 journalists who took on the role of reporting the atrocities and tragedies of this genocide putting themselves on the line. According to the latest update of Committe of Palestinian Journalists CPJ the journalist Montaser Al-Sawaf, was martyred on December, 1st.

Al-Sawaf, a Palestinian cameraman for Anadolu Agency, was killed in Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, as confirmed by Anadolu Agency, Middle East Monitor, and the International Federation of Journalists, according to CPJ.

His martyrdom is a grim testament to the escalating situation in Gaza that doesn’t differentiate between soldiers and civilians. Al Sawaf’s tragic death underscored the perils journalists face in conflict zones, it adds to the blood on the hands of the Zionist regime.

Two weeks ago on Instagram, Al Sawaf shared a picture of him with a swollen injured eye saying that his parents and two siblings were killed after their house was bombarded, while he couldn’t get treatment for his eye due to the collapse of the medical facilities, yet he ended the quote with “We shall resume with the coverage despite everything.”
