Lindsay Lohan isn’t just living in Dubai — she’s loving it. As part of her press tour for the upcoming Freakier Friday, the actress has been reflecting on her life away from Hollywood.
And while this isn’t the first time she’s spoken about why she chose Dubai, her recent interview at LIVE with Kelly and Mark gives a clearer picture of what the move has meant to her. After years in the spotlight, Lohan decided it was time for a quieter, more private life. Here’s why she left Los Angeles behind — and why she’s not looking back.
A Life Without Paparazzi
In Dubai, Lohan found something she couldn’t get in LA: real privacy. Unlike Hollywood, there are actual laws against snapping photos of people without permission — even in public spaces. That means no more worrying about cameras when she’s out with her son.
As she explained, the lack of paparazzi pressure lets her live a normal life. “It’s just far away from Hollywood. And I live a very normal life… I feel very safe.”
LA Was Overwhelming
Even simple things like taking her child to the park in Los Angeles gave her anxiety. She constantly worried about hidden cameras or being followed. New York gave her a bit of relief — people mind their own business — but Dubai offered the full package: calm, space, and peace of mind.
She described the shift as finally being able to relax without constantly being on guard.

The Work Got Lost in the Noise
Lohan has admitted that her career was often overshadowed by media chaos. She felt like the focus shifted from her actual work to the drama around her life, especially when she was younger.
“I feel like some of [my work] got overshadowed by paparazzi and all that kind of stuff when I was younger, and that’s kind of annoying.”
She said that at some point, disappearing from the scene felt like the only way the focus could be on her work again.

A New Chapter in the UAE
Since moving to Dubai in 2014, Lohan has built a quiet and stable life. She married Kuwaiti financier Bader Shammas in 2022 and became a mom to baby Luai in 2023. While she stays mostly private, she occasionally gives fans a peek — like the serene, ocean-themed nursery she designed for her son.
For Lohan, Dubai offered a fresh start and a respite from the celebrity bubble. Back in 2018, she said the city felt like a place where people care more about real-world events than tabloid gossip — and that’s something she genuinely appreciated.

Peace, Finally
After over a decade in the UAE, it’s clear Lohan has found what she was missing in LA — calm, space, and a sense of safety. She’s not out of the spotlight completely, but she’s living life on her own terms now. And honestly? She seems happier than ever.
