Lebanon’s Aziza Sbaity Strikes Gold At Arab Athletics Championship

Lebanese sprinter Aziza Sbaity reigns victorious after defeating Kuwaiti Mudahawi and Moroccan Sara El Hachimi in the 200m race during the 2023 Arab Athletics Championships that was held in Marrakech. She was the only Lebanese gold medalist at the games and beyond that, also nabbed the silver medal for the 100m race. Along with that, she was able to break two national records during the Championship.

During the games, Lebanon’s team won a total of five medals including two medals for Sbaity, one bronze medal for Joan Makary at the 800m race, one bronze medal for Rasha Badrani at the 400m hurdles race and a silver medal for Tala Fakhoury, Nada El Kurdi, Joan Makary & Rasha Badrani at the 4X400m race.

When it comes to Sbaity, she is known for her record-breaking accomplishments as back in 2019, she broke the national 100-meter record at the 23rd Asian Athletics Championships in Doha. Now training to take part in the Olympics, the athlete will continue her journey to expand her title. With her recent win at the 2023 Arab Athletics Championships, she is primed to continue her impressive streak in the field of Athletics.
