Israel Vs. The World: A Look At The Global Stance on Palestine Today
For some time now, several countries around the world have been taking a stance on Palestine in different ways. To give you a comprehensive look, we created an “Israel vs. the World” mini-guide that will give you a glimpse into where the globe currently stands:
Asian Support
Pakistan’s Bold Stand
One of the most recent bouts of support came from Pakistan, whose government declared Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a terrorist.
Japan Wants an Independent State
So far, when it comes to Japan, what is known is that their support is two-sided, as they do want an independent state for Palestine, but they also support the two-state solution.
European Support
Iceland Stands With Gaza
Iceland is among the European countries supporting Gaza. The Icelandic government made it clear that “an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip should be established in order to guarantee the safety of civilians.”
Norway Support
Norway has been taking big steps towards its support of Palestine. From stating that it would enforce an arrest warrant for Netanyahu if the ICC ended up finalizing the arrest warrant to increasing its funding by nearly 40% and sending millions of dollars of aid.
Spain With Gaza
For some time now, Spain was seen as one of Europe’s most outspoken critics of the ongoing genocide in Gaza. From recognizing Palestine’s statehood to backing South Africa in its International Court of Justice case against Israel, Spain is on Palestine’s side.
EU States Recognizing Palestine
Bulgaria, Cyprus, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Sweden are some of the EU States that joined the string of countries that recently recognized Palestine as a state.
Central American Support
Latin American Pro-Palestine
From Antigua and Barbuda to Costa Rica and Cuba, Latin American countries have been using their voice to debate against the ongoing genocide. The CELAC countries supported the UN resolution for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and demanded guarantees that Gaza could have access to humanitarian aid.
With this list of countries, we mainly focused on those who avidly showed support and did so in different ways. Many other countries support Palestine but have taken less dynamic action.
