In Photos: Egypt Opens Sphinx International Airport for initial Trial Flights

In a bid to ease the endless pressure on the Cairo International Airport and New Cairo, Egypt just launched a new international airport in Giza for initial trial flights. The Sphinx International Airport is perfectly located near The Great Pyramids of Giza and the new highly-anticipated Grand Museum of Egypt. Not to mention, it will bring tourists closer to the North coast and Alexandria, in addition to Borg El-Arab Airport.

The $17 million airport launched by the Ministry of Tourism is expected to operate 30 flights by next month. The initial trial period started on the 26th of January 2019 with scheduled domestic flights to Hurghada, Sharm El-Sheikh, Luxor, and Aswan. We can only expect an increase in hotels’ operation in the outskirts of Cairo near the airport as well.
