How to Shop Responsibly and Stop Letting the Crisis Bring Out the Worst in You
At times like this, chaos often takes over. And we understand that panic is a valid reason for excess shopping, but before you stock up on too many products, that you most probably won’t use, simply out of panic, think of people who will actually need these products probably more than yourself and won’t be able to find them.
We’ve all seen that people in several countries have been stocking up unnecessary products and buying so much more than what they need, in case their countries get locked down. Let’s not follow their footsteps though. Because despite everything, we’d like to think that, as humans, there’s more to us than just thinking about ourselves.
We’re not staying don’t buy, but try to buy only what you really need, not what you want, and avoid the madness, please. Also, although it’s easier to buy from hypermarkets, try to buy from the small local shops as well as the local fruit and vegetable sellers, as their incomes are getting deeply affected right now.
So buy any medications that you need, groceries for a week or two, and any urgent home supplies only!
Most importantly, if you find an elderly person, please offer to help. At times like this, these people are the ones who need it the most, so don’t be consumed by greed. And remember, anxiety and stress can lower your immune system, and that’s the last thing you need right now.
