Yesterday, Egypt among at least seven other states, severed its diplomatic ties with Qatar. This means that the Egyptian diplomatic mission in Qatar will no longer be there to represent, nor look after Egyptian nationals currently residing in Qatar.

The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Abu Zeid, announced that his Excellency Sameh Shokry, the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, gave a call to Nikos Kotzias, the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs, to update him regarding Egyptian-Qatari relations. Kotzias informed Shokry that he is looking forward for the Greek Embassy in Qatar, to function as a replacement of the Egyptian diplomatic mission in Doha.

Abu Zeid added that the Greek minister was very interested in carrying out the request. This demonstrates the strength of the friendly bonds between the two nations.

WE SAID THIS: Much love and respect to the Greek government and people.
