‘Game of Thrones’ Cast Visit Syrian Refugees in Greece
Game of Thrones‘ stars Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), Lena Heady (Cersei Lannister), and Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth) visited refugee camps in Greece with the International Rescue Committee‘s campaign “Rescue Has No Boundaries.” The stars called out EU leaders for their lack of efforts in helping refugees stranded in Greece. The campaign, using the hashtag #RealmToTheRescue, was created to raise awareness about the tragic refugee crisis. According to the UN, there are over 65 million refugees around the world to date and nearly one million people per month come from the Syrian civil war.
The campaign = began as a partnership between the HBO show and the IRC, which includes a video featuring a larger chunk of the cast with the stars asking their fans and the world to “Rise Up” and help refugees find haven at a time when they cannot go home.
