Egypt’s Sound Clash!

If you haven’t heard about the RedBull Sound clash till now… Well that’s nearly impossible because it’s literally the talk of the city. You must have read a tweet here or have seen an ad there, but wait up because we’ve got you the exclusive scoop!

It is the first time in the history of music and culture in Egypt that we witness such an event where the biggest two underground bands; Cairokee and West El-Balad, don’t just come on stage to perform but they come on stage to compete. We’ve also never experienced an old school “taking it to the streets” kind of competition that leaves the decision to the crowd. Yes people, a real musical rivalry is coming up this Thursday in Cairo Festival City.

We here at Scoop talked to the enthusiastic crew of Redbull and found out that they are enjoying every second of preparing for this huge event, even though they sounded exhausted. The crew explained that their experience with Cairokee and West El-Balad is fantastic because they are making real music unlike any other commercial stars or celebrities. We agree on that and share our love to both bands, who we think they actually use their talents to express Egypt’s struggle.

The sound clash will consist of a number of rounds, although many of you have heard about the first three rounds, there is a confirmation from the crew that there are two more rounds that no one knows about!

We have also found out that behind the scenes, both bands are extremely friendly but tend to tease and make fun of each other. We wonder what’s going to happen on stage when the bands start the first round of cover songs. In this round, each band will have a cover ready with their own version of the song. The bands could choose between a song by Celine Dion or a “mahragan” by Oka and Ortega; it’s that much unpredictable!

Also the second round will be really cool as one of the bands will start performing their own music and then the other will have to take over half way through. It’s going to get extremely hot by the third round where each band will perform three tracks of their own, in an entirely different genre.

Here’s all you need to know about the event’s details but if you’re excited and want to go then hurry up and get your ticket… NOW!
