Egyptian Sexologist Heba Qotb Responds to Hymen-Obsessed Parliamentarians

Heba Qotb, an Egyptian certified sex therapist and host of the sexual advice show, The Big Talk,  is on a mission to educate those parliamentarians who have been suggesting bills that have to do with the female hymen. “A lot of people in our society believe that virginity is only about the hymen, and this is a misconception.”

In Amr El-Leithy’s show, Bewodoo7, where Qotb was the guest, she said that many divorces occur due to these misconceptions and false traditions blindly followed by many men; a woman who has no hymen doesn’t necessarily mean that she had sex before meanwhile a woman who has one doesn’t mean she hadn’t.

She said that she had a woman patient “who has slept with eight men and never lost her hymen.” That is because she was careful to not perform insertion, clarifying that “the hymen is not a proof of virginity.”
