Residents across Egypt and the Arab world will witness the first supermoon of 2025 tonight, Monday, October 6th, when the full moon appears larger and brighter than usual as it reaches 99.7% illumination at its closest point to Earth.
The moon will be about 361,456 kilometers away, rising from the eastern horizon at sunset. It will first appear orange due to atmospheric dust before shifting to its familiar silver-white glow as it ascends.

No Unusual Effects
The supermoon will appear about 11% larger and 27% brighter than usual, though the difference is barely noticeable to the naked eye. It reaches its full phase early Tuesday morning at 6:47 a.m. (Mecca Time). But it will appear full on both nights.
Experts confirm the event has no extraordinary impact on Earth aside from slightly stronger tides, known as the perigean tide.

A Perfect View
Tonight offers ideal conditions for stargazers and photographers, with lunar craters appearing sharper under direct light. The view near landmarks or natural horizons enhances the well-known “moon illusion.”
Lighting up the October sky, the first supermoon of the year promises a quiet but striking celestial moment worth looking up for.
