Burj Khalifa Lights up for Dubai Metro 10th Anniversary

September 9 is Dubai metro’s birthday, we’re celebrating 10 years of metro buddies, smooth rides and technology achievements. Over the past decade, the metro welcomed 1.5 billion happy riders through an innovative 47 stations and 79 trains. With the leading metro system, passengers have unlimited traffic-free and cheaper means of transportation.

To celebrate, the Roads and Transport Authority organized activities where winners can receive a Nol card loaded with Dh1,000. Parents can also register their children born on September 9 between 2009 and 2018 to celebrate “metro babies” birthdays in the Dubai mall, September 30. The RTA marked the successful night by lighting up Burj Khalifa in the metro’s colour scheme.

Thanks to his Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s idea, his once dream turned into reality in 2009. He tweeted about the milestone, “Dubai Metro was once a dream. I was 10 years old when I visited London in 1959 with my father who insisted to see a train’s cockpit. 50 years later, Dubai Metro came true in 2009. Nothing is impossible if you can dream it.”

WE SAID THIS: Burj Khalifa will also be 10 January 2020!
