Amr Adib: ‘A Country That Is Threatened by the Media Is No Country’

On December 18, TV host Ibrahim Eissa had some harsh words about Egypt’s parliament and allegedly accused it of planning to adjust the constitutional article that limits the presidential term limit. The next day, the parliament filed a complaint to the General Authority for Investment against the talk show “With Ibrahim Eissa”, demanding legal actions to be taken against the show being aired on the Tarek Nour privately-owned TV satellite channel Al-Qahera Wal Nas.

Eissa issued a statement thanking his audience and colleagues for the amazing support, adding that the topics that are being tackled made the show more influential than other regular TV shows which consequently laid more burden on them. Another TV host who is no stranger to show suspensions is Amr Adib and he simply put his two cents worth in on the matter. “A country that is threatened by the media or its personalities is no country,” Adib have said.
