The government, private sector, and the civil society are taking initiatives to boost Egypt’s Tourism. Alexandria is planning on introducing new tourists-only beaches in the coastal city and signing agreements with other countries to add enjoyable experiences to the city’s classical, cultural and conference tourism. Alexandria has become a trending destination for Egypt’s citizens this year and occupancy rate has exceeded 90%. Now, the government is looking to increase external tourism rates.
In addition to that, Ali al-Manesterly, Chairman of Alexandria Chamber of Travel Agencies, said that the government is planning on doubling the number of hotels in the city. There have also been agreements with Cyprus, Greece, and Italy about facilitating and luring their citizens into visiting Alexandria.
The new private beaches will ensure privacy and would cater to the needs of the foreign tourist. Subsequently, Alexandria’s airport, Borg al-Arab Airport, will be expanded to fit 4 million tourists instead of only 1.2 million by 2022.
