Al Jazeera Buys Current TV

It almost seems that Qatar just cant stop! In an unprecedented move, the Qatari TV Giant, Al Jazeera, bought out Al Gore’s failing TV network, Current TV.

In a dela that is dubbed as the Leftist/Jihadist alliance, Al Jazeera will replace Current’s programming with its own network and plans to rename it Al Jazeera America. The Doha-based channel has long sought to extend the reach of its English-language service in the US. The deal gives the network the ability to get in front of more American viewers, which has been one of its biggest challenges.

A lot of controversy is being seen from distrubuting networks such as Time Warner, who are terminating their deals with Curent TV right after the sale. This move will definetly push Al Jazeera to compete on a much closer leverl with giant Amerian networks such as CNN, MSNBC & FOX.
