meastock.com is LIVE!
The Middle East has been finally rising up to the international standards when it comes to the online ventures. As I had mentioned before in earlier articles here on Scoop Empire, this is mainly due to the increased interest by venture capitalists in tech start ups in the region for the past couple of years.
But even though not every great idea gets picked up by these so called VCs, some tend to rise with the minimal amount of aid and the maximum amount of risk and becomes the result of pure effort for the sake of greatness.
One of these ventures has just gone live today, meastock.com, an online, Middle East-focused, user generated, sub-licenser of stock footage. Yeah, so what does that all mean? Think Youtube and Shutterstock combined together. Due to the lack of resources in the Middle East, it is very hard to find video footage from this part of world and at the same time there are a lot of aspiring videographers that have footage that have no where to show it off to the rest of the world. And this is where meastock.com comes in.
So how does it work? Uploaders earn a 35% commission of all sales their media generates. Graduating from the site’s strict technical criteria guidelines, footage is subsequently stored, categorized, indexed and presented to buyers at competitive prices. Check out their Rights Overview page for exact pricing.
Currently open for footage from Egypt, they intend to expand to the rest of the Middle East, “We want to make sure that we give each country the time and effort it merits to dig up valuable footage and organically expand our network of videographers in the region. We have accordingly decided to tackle this one country at a time as we set up office in each new market. You can sign up to our monthly newsletter or follow us online keep up to date with our latest.” said Hashem Sabry, CEO & Founder.
Other than being able to sell your footage to potential production houses around the world, they offer a very attractive Referral Program that encourages members to recommend the site to potential contributors. In turn, the referee will earn a commission of 10% on all sales of the account citing their referral.
I have to say, it’s a pretty neat site, nicely designed and developed and looks like it is here to achieve new standards for online ventures in the region.
WE SAID THIS: If you have footage from Egypt, hurry up and upload it to meastock.com, if not, tell your friends!
