This season, movie announcements have been coming left and right, making it almost impossible to plan our cinema visits. But what really caught our attention is the wave of nostalgia, so many of the Egyptian films we love are coming back for more, with sequels already in the works. Here are the ones we’re most excited to see hit the big screen.
Mafia (2002)
Ahmed El Sakka is back in action! He’s officially kicking off preparations for the second installment of his hit movie Mafia, the 2002 classic that we still can’t get enough of. Fans are buzzing as this revival brings one of his most beloved films back to the big screen.
Adding extra flair, the legendary Sherif Arafa is returning to the director’s chair, a pairing that’s known for delivering cinematic magic. And to spice things up even more, Essam Omar is joining the cast of this highly anticipated sequel.

Shams Elzanaty (1991)
Egyptian cinema is riding a wave of nostalgia with a fresh twist! The legendary Adel Imam’s classic Shams El Zanaty is getting a new chapter, but this time it’s his son, Mohamed Imam, stepping into his iconic shoes alongside Asmaa Galal.
Director Amr Salama promises that the film won’t be a straight sequel or a copy of the original; it’s an entirely new story inspired by the spirit of the beloved classic, giving fans both nostalgia and something completely fresh to enjoy.


Shekko (2024)
Get ready for more action, laughs, and romance! The hit thriller Shekko, starring Amr Youssef, Dina El Sherbiny, Mohamed Mamdouh, and Amina Khalil, is gearing up for a sequel.
The movie’s director Ahmed El Sobky, revealed that reparations for the script of Shekko 2 are already underway, promising fans an even bigger, bolder ride than the first movie. Brace yourselves, it’s about to get stronger, faster, and even more thrilling.

Sahar El Layali (2003)
After 22 years, a social drama we all fell in love with is making a long-awaited comeback to pull at our heartstrings once again. Screenwriter Tamer Habib has revealed that Sahar El Layali is officially in the works for a second chapter, but with a fresh twist.
This time around, the story will introduce a whole new generation of characters, bringing a modern take to the spirit of the original we know and love.

Tito (2004)
Even after 25 years, Tito, starring Ahmed El Sakka, is still living in our heads rent-free. Now, the iconic film is gearing up for a comeback, with Tarek Alarian announcing a sequel that’s set to pick up where the story left off, but with a fresh face in the spotlight.
The movie is expected to follow the story of the child Tito adopted by the end of the film. While the new lead hasn’t been locked in just yet, El Sakka recommended rising star Ahmed Ghozzi to take on the role.
