Zara Co-founder Rosalia Mera, Dead at 69
Rosalia Mera, co-founder of the high street fashion chain Zara and the richest woman in Spain, has died from a stroke at the age of 69.
Mera and her ex husband, Armancio Ortega, who was listed as the world’s third richest person by Forbes, opened their first Zara store in 1975.
We all know what Zara is, and the reason behind her success was because the store specialized in low priced versions of more expensive popular clothes, and because of that the store than grew all over Spain and then internationally in not a very long time.
With 1,763 Zara stores worldwide, Mera’s fortune was estimated at 4.7 billion Euros.
I quote “I’ve always fought for justice and equal opportunities, so that others can have opportunities,” she said.
May her soul rest in peace.
