The first glimpse of Fred again..’s upcoming USB002 REMIXES project arrives courtesy of longtime collaborator and tour companion Hamdi. The half-Tunisian, half-British producer puts his stamp on Fred again..’s Grammy-nominated 2022 track ‘OK OK’, pushing it deep into dubstep territory.
The remix sees Hamdi editing the vocals of JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown through spacious reverb before driving the track’s rolling low end into darker, more punishing depths. An ode to the original yet primed for grimy club environments, the rework showcases the bass-forward signature sound Hamdi is recognizable for.
Marking the first release from USB002 REMIXES, the seven-track remix collection reimagines cuts from Fred again..’s recent USB002 project. The dubstep flip of ‘OK OK‘ features guest vocals from Danny Brown, BEAM, and JPEGMAFIA, with additional production from PARISI.
The full USB002 REMIXES EP arrives on 6 March, with the remaining remix contributors yet to be revealed. Fred again.. is currently touring in support of USB002, hosting residency-style shows across multiple cities, with Hamdi joining him onstage during a San Francisco stop late last year.
