Scenarist Ayman Amar Reveals Original Casting Plan for ‘X Large’ Including the Late Alaa Waley El-Din

Scenarist Ayman Bahgat Amar recently revealed on “it’s showtime” program that he originally wrote the comedy movie “Taymour X large” in 2001, for Waley El-Din to be the leading actor, with the intention of creating a tale narrating the everyday struggles of an overweight person without mocking their condition, but the beloved actor’s death back then hindered the movie from coming to the light.
Years later Ahmed Helmy approached the scenarist telling him he wanted to make a movie about overweight people’s challenges, and that’s when the scenarist went back to his old scenario, removed the topping dust and re-created “X large” for Helmy in 2011.
During the show, Author Ayman stressed over the fact that the pure intention of the movie was to put a spotlight on the nature of their daily life challenges without any form of demeaning or mocking overweight people.
He further noted that this is one of his favorite movies as he personally suffered from this issue, being an overweight child. “I was a 107 Kilograms, 13-year-old teen and most of the movie scenes were based on true stories I personally lived with close friends and relatives,” he stated. Even the chosen name for the main character “Magdy” is the name of a friend he had, who lived a similar story where he loved a girl and faced the same obstacles, yet in real life, he couldn’t marry that girl.
