Saudi Law Punishes Parents Who Don’t Provide Education for Their Children

As the new academic year starts on the 1st of September in Saudi Arabia, the kingdom’s public prosecution tweeted a reminder of the Saudi child protection law which criminalizes parents who don’t offer their children a proper education.

Issued in 2014, article 4 of the Saudi child law prompts parents to provide schooling and to create appropriate studying conditions for their kids. However, any parent who prevents their child from getting an education can be charged with abuse and neglect under the child protection system.
