Prince Charles Visits Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi
Prince Charles and his wife Camilla visited Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, yesterday, after arriving in Abu Dhabi as part of their three-nation tour of the Gulf. The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall had visited the mosque before in 2007 prior to its completion. This visit was intended to celebrate the UAE’s work to promote religious tolerance and see the final outcome of the mosque.
The Minister of State for Tolerance, Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi hosted them on a tour of the mosque, where Prince Charles spoke with Bishop Paul Hinder of St Joseph’s Cathedral, one of two Roman Catholic churches in Abu Dhabi. “For me, the visit is for recognition,” Hinder said. “The Prince was able to speak to us and see the mutual religious tolerance which is a reality in the UAE.”
