President Sisi: 2019 To Be Egypt’s Year of Education

Egypt’s President, Abdel Fattah El Sisi, announced that “2019 will be Egypt’s year of education”; allocating 20% of all internal and external governmental scholarships to the Education Ministry for ten years. This declaration came during the closing session of the two-day National Youth Conference held at Cairo University on Sunday

Moreover, Sisi declared that human development has been a key pillar of the government’s agenda. However, the strategy would not only focus on education but it will also include health, culture, and sports. Sisi also announced the establishment of an accreditation body of quality programs for technical education in accordance with international standards.

In January 2018, during the Hekayat Watan “Nation’s story” conference, Sisi mentioned that Egypt’s educational system accommodates 22 million people and if the country was to spend LE 10,000 on each student every year. Consequently, he stated that “we will need LE 220 billion.”
