Officially: FIFA Announces That The 2022 World Cup in Qatar To Be Held In The Winter!

FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed the dates for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, announcing on Friday that it will be held from the 21st of November to the 18th of December. So, we can officially say that the final match will be played just a week before Christmas.

With all World Cups played in June and July, this tournament will be the first winter World Cup. It’s not quite clear just yet how it will impact the club seasons throughout the world. However, the first Arab country to host the event is planning eight new stadiums for the tournament.

Morovere, at a ceremony held at the Kremlin’s Armorial Hall on Sunday, Russian President Vladimir Putin officially transferred the authority to host the next FIFA World Cup tournament to the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani. “I am sure that our friends from Qatar will be able to host the FIFA World Cup in 2022 at the same high level,” Putin said.
