Abu Dhabi’s push toward a driverless future just got a little cleaner. The capital has rolled out a new fleet of autonomous street-cleaning vehicles, known as RoboSweepers, to scrub and sanitise the city’s iconic Corniche—no human drivers required.
A New Kind of Street Cleaner
Developed by Autogo, a subsidiary of K2, under the supervision of the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council and Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), the futuristic sweepers are programmed to glide through pedestrian areas, pavements, and public spaces using high-precision sensors and navigation tech.
Designed specifically for urban environments, the RoboSweepers promise consistent cleaning standards while reducing reliance on manual labor — a quiet step toward smarter, more sustainable city maintenance.

Part of a Bigger Autonomous Push
The rollout comes on the heels of Abu Dhabi’s rapidly growing robotaxi network, which recently hit 30,000 completed trips. Operated across Yas, Saadiyat, Masdar, Al Reem, and Al Maryah Islands, the autonomous fleet has tripled in just a year, positioning the capital as one of the region’s leaders in smart mobility.
Now, the same spirit of innovation is hitting the sidewalks — quite literally.
Building the City of the Future
The RoboSweepers represent more than just a cleaning solution; they mark a visible shift in how the city blends technology with sustainability and efficiency. A recent video from the Abu Dhabi Media Office shows them in motion — quiet, precise, and futuristic — embodying the city’s commitment to innovation and smarter urban living.
Abu Dhabi isn’t just cleaning its streets. It’s polishing its future.
