Nile Ritz Carlton’s Culina: The Brunch that Stands Out from the Bunch
Walking through the oh-so-very majestic lobby of the Nile Ritz Carlton, trying to find Culina for their new brunch — past the hieroglyphic walls and gorgeous flower arrangements — it’s very obvious that you’re in one of the swankiest hotels in the city. All the shiny gold stuff, that woman playing that massive harp and, of course, all those fancy-looking people who are enjoying their afternoon tea. Even the staff were all smiles.
As soon as the Scoop Empire team and I were seated (with the Egyptian Museum and Tahrir Square as our view), the waiter asked us probably the best and most important question of all time: “Wine?” If that didn’t automatically make Culina my favorite brunch spot, the food did.
There was food literally everywhere our eyes could see. We’ve counted 10 different food stations to be exact, from international food to Egyptian, seafood, Indian, Italian and more. We were devouring crabs one second, molokheya with rabbits the other, sushi, chicken butter masala and more. Saying we were “mafagee3” would be an understatement.

I had to thank whoever was responsible for creating this deliciousness at Culina, so I hunted down Executive Chef Khaled Ibrahim and Sous Chef Mathew Piercy to thank them myself.
“Our Italian station is actually run by only Italian chefs,” Ibrahim tells me.
“And all our chocolate that we have in our dessert station is homemade. Oh, and we also have a kids’ section in this brunch,” Piercy said, pointing at the juggling clown.
As I was about to leave *cough* possibly very drunkenly *cough* all I could think of is that I can’t wait for the next Friday to come so I can re-experience this whole brunch once again.
WE SAID THIS: The brunch happens every Friday from 1 PM until 5 PM and costs 400++ EGP for all access to all food stations and soft drinks, and 550++ EGP with unlimited local beer and wine.
