Mommy Diaries: Girlie Girl
L Boogie is going through a girlie girl phase at the moment.
It all began one afternoon in the car when she proudly announced that her little sister, Z, was actually a boy.
She has no hair mommy. She’s always wearing pants. She is a boy. She’s not like you and I.
Since that day, L has been parading around in skirts and dresses, her hair is always loose and flowing, and her shoes are covered in glitter. She watches me put on whatever make up I can in the small amount of time I have. She hangs on every stroke and pucker. Then insists I let her try it. If I need her to do something I need to somehow insert the fact that that is exactly what princesses do. Also, I’ve seen Angelina Ballerina do it a number of times. Otherwise, it’s off the table.
She won’t let me sing or dance in the car anymore because the 3ammo in the car next to us can see me. I’m also not allowed to sing while I bathe her. She doesn’t like it when I sing in the kitchen either. L keeps convincing me to never sing. Ever. I’m sure it’s coming from a place of jealousy. My singing is awesome. It must be tough on her.
It was adorable the first week. Now I’m panicking. Where has my baby gone? She’s not even 4 yet and already she wants a red manicure. She can’t dress herself and already she’s judging my fashion sense and calling herself “stylish.” I’m not ready for this. Help.
