Meet Ramzy Al Duhami & Abdulrahman Alrajhi: Saudi Arabia’s Olympic Riders
Bringing a sense of pride to Saudi Arabia, equestrian champions Ramzy Al Duhami and Abdulrahman Alrajhi sealed their place in the Olympic equestrian finals after nabbing a spot in the top 20 during the qualifiers. Al Duhami sealed his spot with a time of 77.48 with no penalties while Alrajhi finished with a time of 75.35 with zero penalties.
Along with Emirati rider Omar Abdul Aziz Al Marzooqi, Al Duhami and Alrajhi are the only Arab riders heading to the Olympic finals this year. Seeing how they have a chance to win the coveted gold medal, we wanted to take a deeper dive and get to learn more about the two riders.
A Look Back
Looking back at the childhood of both these riders, you’ll notice how horses played a big role in their lives. When it comes to Al Duhami, he comes from an equestrian family. His father had Arabian horses and so Ramzy, along with his brothers, began his riding career with those horses.
Alrajhi also had a special relationship with his father and even said that he’s the most influential person in his life. He also picked up on his riding career pretty early on.
Their Successful Journey
Throughout their horse riding careers, both athletes knew how to slay the sport. Ramzy made it to the Olympics on more than one occasion, having qualified for the Atlanta (1996), Athens (2004), Hong Kong (2008) and London (2012) Olympics. His proudest achievement was winning bronze at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Alrajhi was also not shy of winning awards as he was part of the winning team at the 2022 Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China and also claimed first place in the senior category at Diriyah Gate Development Authority Show Jumping Tournament.
Fun Facts
Along with their horse riding careers, the two athletes have some fun facts about their lives. With Ramzy, he’s got a knack for business as he runs an equestrian business called Elite Horses in Saudi Arabia. Alrajhi, on the other hand, has a knack for fashion as he is often seen wearing a crisp suit with his signature slicked-back hair with a side part.
Being such successful and unique riders, we wish them luck in their upcoming Olympic final competition!
