After teasing the tracklist in a surprise Instagram drop, Egyptian rap heavyweight Marwan Pablo has finally delivered his highly anticipated EP, ‘5 Nzam’.
Rooted in the trap sound that first defined his rise, yet laced with subtle experimental flourishes, the project sees Pablo reconnect with frequent collaborators Xander Ghost and Hady Moamer. The EP ultimately leans on the ease and precision of an artist fully in command of his own sonic blueprint. The four-track release includes “Hekemdar,” “Khatar” featuring Hadi Maamar and Xander Ghost, “Awghad” featuring Hadi Maamar, and the long-awaited “Flexin.” The latter stands out as the EP’s centerpiece, a track fans have been anticipating for nearly five years after its live renditions became a staple of Pablo’s performances.
Arriving after a phase of stylistic exploration, on his previous EP ‘Deviation’, which incorporated reggae-rap influences, ‘5 Nzam’ signals a partial return to a more trap-centric palette. At the same time, it retains traces of the experimentation Pablo has gradually introduced into his work. Much of the production across these releases continues to be shaped in collaboration with Hadi Moamar.
Pablo returns to a sharper, more direct mode of expression, anchored in themes of status, power, and ambition, while reflecting on his individual, hard-earned ascent. His writing maintains its signature minimalism, lines that appear straightforward on the surface yet are driven by a tightly controlled internal rhythm and deliberate flow.
Beyond music, Pablo has also stepped into acting this year, making his debut in the film Egy Best alongside Ahmed Malek and Salma Abu Deif. He is set to return to the stage on April 24, with an upcoming concert at the Music Arena inside Antoniadis Garden in Alexandria.
