Marilyn Monroe London Exhibition
Last September The National Portrait Gallery in London launched Marilyn Monroe: A British Love Affair . It has been been running since with a huge success rate and is on its finale month of showing.
The exhibition highlights the leading actress and bombshell coincidentally just in time for her 50th death anniversary. You can expect to see images of her 4-month stay in Britain with then husband Arthur Miller and many more. Monroe was in the country set to shoot The Prince and the Showgirl featuring Laurence Olivier as the leading mae role.
In the most recent film A Week With Marlyn the images are set around the same time frame. The movie highlighted the experience through the eyes of a young assistant director on the set who has a brief love affair with the actress. The movie also shows the hardship that Monroe experienced with the roll and the chronic depression and self conflict she lived with throughout her stardom.
One of the sexiest women of our century, Marilyn is an icon in her own right. If you are in London between now and the 24th of March be sure to pass by this exhibition if not for the love of art then for the love of beauty.
