Maria Sharapova Fires Her Coach After ONE Match
Maria Sharapova fires her coach after ONE match!
After losing to Sloane Stephens in the second round of the Western & Southern Open in Cincinatti, Maria decided to fire her coach after only 34-days together.
The third-ranked Russian announced last month after splitting with Thomas Hogstedt, her coach for two and half years that she will be hiring eight-time winner, Jimmy Connors. That coaching change was made after she lost in the second round of Wimbledon. Apparently, she doesn’t accept losing so easily.
Connors, a fiery, former eight-time grand slam winner, had also coached former U.S. Open champion Andy Roddick. After the news, Connor tweeted “Back home in SB– family, pups, and home cooking….. “Sounds like he is having a break from it all .
“It’s not the right fit for this time in my career,” she said in a statement to Tennis.com
She has also decided not to enter next week’s event in New Haven, Connecticut, and Eisenbud confirmed that she would compete at the year’s final grand slam without a coach.
WE SAID THIS: Best of Luck, Maria!
