Lost In Florence: Back To Egypt
I’m Back in Egypt.
Being back for the holidays is something I’m certainly not ready for. I mean, sure, I miss my family, friends, and Egyptian food, But what I’m really looking forward to is to miss Italy and leave Egypt again. Sure enough, the second I stepped into Egypt, I began missing Italy.
It’s not that I hate Egypt or anything, it’s just that I think my love for Egypt is pretty much what they call Stockholm Syndrome. I think it’s a nice place only to visit for a few weeks, but impossible to live in!
My first day back felt weird, I did not wake up to the Duomo bells, I didn’t walk the streets of Florence in the sun, I didn’t hear music from street musicians! Instead, I woke up to the ambooba guy making a rukus to let people know he blessed us with his arrival. (This is going to be a spectacular holiday)
I feel like I never left this God forsaken country, everything is just the way I left it, nothing has changed. I felt even more at home when I saw a girl with White, glittery eye-shadow under her eyes instead of concealer. (I don’t need to inform you of the on going trends in our country!)
But there is one thing i’m thrilled about; getting to eat some real Egyptian food! Bring me the samna.
