Lebanon Detects Its First-Ever Mutant COVID Case on a Flight From London

Lebanon just detected its first case of the new coronavirus variant on a flight coming from London, which means the new mutant virus is spreading rapidly out of Britain even though a lockdown is implemented across southern England. Reports say that the new variant, which experts say is more contagious, was carried by a passenger on an incoming Middle East Airlines flight 202 from London on December 21st.

Health Minister Hamad Hassan said on Friday “We ask travelers from the UK, particularly those on the said flight and their relatives, to be vigilant and to commit to precautionary measures,”

A surge in coronavirus infections is overburdening Lebanon’s healthcare system; with an estimated population of 6 million people, has reported more than 1,000 deaths as a result of COVID-19, not to mention the huge port explosion in August which damaged hospitals in Beirut.

WE SAID THIS: Stay safe!
