Egyptian artist Laila Beshara collaborates with Ouella on the unfiltered single ‘MALAHI’, ahead of her upcoming EP LE3BA GDEEDA, while her previous work leaned into polished Alternative R&B and moody Hip-Hop, this new track pushes her sound into more experimental, industrial, and chaotic territory, favoring saturation and distortion over clean production.
The track opens with a distorted bass intro before Laila raps in a nonchalant tone over a synthetic, glitch-heavy melody. The beat is deliberately unmelodic, evolving into dark ambient textures with industrial elements that add tension. As the track progresses, the rhythm shifts frequently, moving into percussion-driven passages that take listeners on a rollercoaster ride.
‘Malahi’ stands as Laila Beshara’s most abrasive work to date, functioning as a sonic manifesto that rejects the polished facade of the music industry in favor of raw, industrial chaos. Lyrically, she frames Malahi as a dizzying, unending loop of fakeness, where peers are seen as merchandise rather than fellow artists. Her flow oscillates between sedated detachment and sharp aggression, capturing the feeling of standing still in a world that is simultaneously collapsing and spinning.
“This time, I wanted to move away from polished visuals and rigid concepts, so I didn’t try to fit the track into a specific theme or story. I just let the music lead, filming it where I recorded it and performing it naturally with Ouella, which felt simpler, more immediate, and allowed the track to speak for itself without any forced ideas.” – Laila Beshara tells Wara El Mazzika
The visualizer accompanying the single mirrors this unfiltered approach. Rather than following a conceptual narrative, it documents the studio recording session, revealing the messy, organic process behind the track. Scattered papers, brainstorming moments, and Laila moving freely around her home studio while singing and rapping are captured from multiple angles. Directed by Sherif Yasser, the visualizer embraces the imperfections and chaos inherent in collaboration, presenting the raw energy behind Malahi in an intimate and unpolished way.
