Fouz Al Fahd, one of the most popular social media influencers in Kuwait and the Arab world, just got arrested for promoting an unlicensed 15-minute coronavirus test on her Snapchat. The blogger has more than three million followers on her social media to get their dose of updates on fashion and many beauty trends.

In a video on her Snapchat, Fouz claimed that the test kit is 95% accurate, but “you should still go and check if you feel any symptoms.” She said that while showing a testing kit that resembled a pregnancy test.

She added in the video “I was super paranoid, so I went to great lengths to get the testing kit that shows whether you have the virus or not. I think it will be widely available soon and I think it would be great to have it at home”.

The problem is that the testing kit was not approved by health officials or ministries, thus, her videos caused a lot of controversy and panic in the Kuwaiti community.

Authorities in Kuwait are taking all the necessary measures to combat the spread of the Coronavirus. They actually imposed a nationwide curfew that starts from 5 PM to 4 AM, and whoever violates could face up to three years in prison or fines of up to 10,000 Dinars!

WE SAID THIS: Let’s make this a lesson for all of us to fact check what we see on social media.
