His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of RUA AlHaram AlMakki Company, has announced the launch of King Salman Gate — a landmark mixed-use development in Makkah spanning 12 million square meters and located adjacent to the Grand Mosque.
The project marks a major step in modernizing Makkah’s infrastructure and central area, aiming to turn the city into a global model of sustainable urban development. It is designed to elevate the experience of pilgrims and visitors, aligning with the Pilgrim Experience Program, by providing efficient services, smoother mobility, and a spiritually enriching environment.

Design, Capacity & Accessibility
Strategically located next to the Grand Mosque, King Salman Gate will combine residential, cultural, and service facilities surrounding the holy site. The complex will accommodate up to 900,000 worshippers across indoor and outdoor prayer spaces, all connected to public transport networks for seamless access to the mosque.
Merging Heritage & Innovation
The development’s design reflects a careful balance between Makkah’s deep-rooted heritage and contemporary urban living. Around 19,000 square meters will be dedicated to restoring and rehabilitating cultural and heritage zones, offering visitors a richer sense of place and history. The project aims to preserve Makkah’s architectural identity while introducing modern standards of comfort, design, and sustainability.
Economic Impact & Vision 2030 Alignment
Developed by RUA AlHaram AlMakki Company, a Public Investment Fund (PIF) company, the project supports the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 objectives for economic diversification and tourism growth. It is expected to generate over 300,000 jobs by 2036, driving both social and economic impact while ensuring responsible resource management and adherence to global real estate development standards.
