On February 4, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and First Lady Entissar El-Sisi welcomed President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his spouse, Emine Erdoğan, upon their arrival at Cairo International Airport.
The presidential couple then escorted their distinguished guests to Al-Ittihadiya Palace, where an official welcoming ceremony was held, followed by bilateral talks between the two leaders.
Strengthening Cooperation Between the Two Nations
The two leaders highlighted the notable growth in bilateral trade, which has reached nearly $9 billion, and reaffirmed their shared ambition to increase trade volume to $15 billion by further strengthening economic and commercial ties.
They also welcomed the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) across key sectors, including defense, investment, trade, agriculture, health, youth and sports, and social protection.

Supporting Regional Security & Conflict Resolution
The presidents also addressed regional tensions, reaffirming their support for President Trump’s comprehensive plan to resolve the conflict in Gaza and stressing the urgent need to reopen the Rafah crossing in both directions.
Discussions covered a range of regional issues, reaffirming support for Lebanon amid Israeli aggression, expressing concern over Sudan, and calling for a permanent ceasefire.
El-Sisi confirmed Egypt’s support for Syria’s unity and sovereignty, and they reviewed joint Egypt–Türkiye efforts to promote stability in Libya and address key challenges in the Horn of Africa and the Sahel.

Erdoğan Gifts El-Sisi an Electric Car
Following the bilateral talks, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan presented Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi with Türkiye’s flagship domestically developed electric car, ‘Togg’. President El-Sisi personally took the wheel, accompanied by President Erdoğan, as they headed to the Egyptian-Turkish Business Forum venue in Nasr City.
