Egypt’s only Satirist Bassem Youssef arrived at the High Court this morning, with the oversized hat that brought tears to everyone’s eyes from laughing.

Here’s the link to the episode in case you missed it or want to watch it again:

It’s viral and everyone is talking about the fact that Youssef actually attended court wearing this hat that is a bigger version of the one that was worn by President Morsi when he went to Pakistan. After the raised charges against him for insulting the president and Islam as a religion, Youssef rejected those accusations.

Last night in a phone call with Lamees El-Hadidy on air, Youssef has clarified the he did not insult the president or belittled Islam which is his religion.

“President Mohamed Morsi? How can anyone insult him, he is the first elected president… We are not the ones who insult religion… If there is anyone who has insulted religion it is those who use Islam as a weapon for political reasons.” explained Youssef.

Youssef has also mentioned that he was not called in for questioning before receiving an “Arrest Warrant” which is against the legal procedures. According to Al-Ahram Online, 12 different people have filed cases against Youssef after the episode where he brought up Amr El-Leithy’s interview with the president.

Breaking News:

Youssef was bailed out from three cases by paying  15,000 L.E, but there is still a case against him and the investigation timing haven’t been decided yet.
