Q&A: Cinema-Square.com, ‘Hollywood’s Hottest Spot’
A new website has launched for you to get all the news and updates about movies and Hollywood. You can find movie reviews, US Box Office listings, cinemas, movie soundtracks, events, trailers, behind the scenes and more. The new baby of Yallabreak aims to be the next big thing in entertainment in Egypt. We got the chance to talk to Mohamed Sobhy, one of the founders of Cinema-Square.com. Check out what he had to say.
Why Cinema Square? How did you choose this name? Is there a story behind it?
Because we’re obsessed with movies, so we decided to create a unique platform for movies and everything going on behind the scenes in Hollywood.
Actually, we didn’t take a long time to choose a name, as every member of our team came up with a different one and finally we picked out the best one to match our concept.
What is Cinema Square and how did it start? And who are the people behind it?
Simply, Cinema Square is a part of the Yallabreak.com family, the entertainment website in Egypt and your platform to get all the news about the latest movies review, Hollywood gossip, cinema times, events and festivals, movie soundtracks, US Box Office… and more. So we can say it’s “Hollywood’s Hottest Spot”.
In October 2012, we started Cinema Square as a Facebook fans page for movie reviews and Hollywood news, then in July 2013 Cinema-Square.com officially launched as a new website.
We started our team with three members including me, Ahmed Sayer and Ahmed El Masry, but now our team is expanding and including staff writers and editors and we’re always welcoming the most talented people to join us.
The design of Cinema-Square.com is really interesting; please tell us more about it.
Because design is very important point in our works, we are always looking for the best layout to match our website’s concept, so you can see than especially in the home page design as we choose the movie reel design for this objective.
What were the major obstacles you faced at the beginning?
Unfortunately, the hardest obstacle we faced was the timing of our website’s launch. As I mentioned before, we launched in July 2013 and there was escalated events going on in our country, but we had to make this step to avoid any delay in our future plans.
What other services do you offer to readers and advertisers?
Mainly, Cinema Square is an informative website offering movie reviews and recommendation and updates to know everything going on in Hollywood without leaving your place. Also we’re working now to activate more services that will be online soon to help our readers and advertisers.
What do you think makes Cinema-Square different than other cinema websites?
Cinema Square is not like many other website to get cinema times and movie reviews only, but also you can find everything related to movies, events, playing movie soundtracks, watching the latest movie trailers and more, so you can say we have everything in one platform.
Which is the most visited section on the site? Why?
Currently, movie reviews is the most visited section as every reader would like to know more reviews before watching the movies and if there are any recommendations or tips about it.
What’s that one thing that you really hope you can achieve through Cinema Square?
I hope we can be the most trusted website for movie reviews and recommendations in Egypt.
Where do you see Cinema Square in the upcoming five years?
One of the top five websites for entertainment in Egypt.
